The seventh CSR component focuses on a school's meaningful involvement
of parents and the community in school improvement. Parent/Community
Involvement is an area with a growing body of research utilizing
a variety of methodologies, including quasi-experimental designs
and survey research, in addition to a substantial body of reports
reflecting "best practice" wisdom. The resources below
include standards, tools, reports, and databases of research that
can help schools plan for effective parent and community involvement
components of CSR.

The National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education
NCPIE advocates for the involvement of parents and families in their
children's schools. NCPIE's web site contains "promising practices"
information and links to other resources for parents and educators.

National Network of Partnership Schools
This site offers publication and research briefs describing best
practices in parent and community involvement. An NNPS handbook
available for purchase includes summaries of research and guidelines
for practice that meet new federal guidelines. (The guidebook costs
